BREAKING NEWS IN IDAHO!

I’m posting this even before any local news sources get it:

BOISE,ID 9/27/05 (AP) – A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Boise courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the greatest degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Idaho Vandals, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

  1. In all Christian love, that is so true. We must continue to speak the truth in love. When will Christian fans of U of I realize that Christianity and Vandalism don’t go well together. On the other hand, we read of the horses in the book of Revelation and I have no doubts that they could and should be considered broncos. Although the apostle John was writing about the future, he wasn’t aware of the centuries later Western nomenclature of the 19th & 20th centuries. In fact, I think the Greek word for “broncos” transliterated is crushesvandals. Quite interesting!

    You and me both! At first I was thinking, “Uh-oh, I hope Nate doesn’t get in trouble at the Statesman for leaking this info, but maybe it’s so urgent his boss gave him the go-ahead to put it on his blog.”

  5. It would seem this post was in vain, since the Vandals did in fact beat someone. Please recant this inaccurate entail. Heck, one more win and I think we might be even with BSU.

  6. Cody, unfortunately, yes, Idaho did beat a team. The poor kid in this story was wrong.

    But since you instigated comparing U of I to BSU football, let’s do that, mmmkay?

    This season, Idaho is 1-4. And who did they beat? Another team consistently mentioned in ESPN’s bottom 10. Congrats. And one of those losses? Shut. Out. By Hawaii, AT HOME. That’s never good (but at least Hawaii’s 3rd stringers got some good play time).

    Boise State is 2-2 this season. And which teams beat them? Georgia (currently ranked 4,5, and 6, in the polls) and Oregon State (which received top 25 votes in the preseason), by the seat of their pants. And both of those losses, I would contend, were due to one lousy player (thanks Zabransky). BSU’s wins? Bowling Green (a top-25 ranked team at the time) and Hawaii at Hawaii (that’s the team that shut Idaho out in the Kiddie Dome – zero score by the mighty U of I).

    So one more win would not put Idaho on par with BSU, it would have to be one more Idaho win and two more BSU losses. And somehow, I don’t think either or those things is going to happen (especially considering BSU’s 27 straight WAC wins).

    The one thing that is similar about the teams is that they were both ranked in the preseason. Of course, Idaho was ranked in the bottom 10 and Boise State in the top 25, but who’s counting, right?

    But we’re proud of that university up north – finally trying to play with the big boys. We’ll give them an “E” for effort and a “L” for their scorecard.
