Bertrand Russell’s assertion, in his conceptual critique of Christianity, that all religion is born out of fear, is a weak and unthinking critism of the subject. It is no more true than if one were to say that all irreligion is born out of fearlessness.
And one more quote to get you thinking (this one by Mortimer Adler, a recognized philosopher and legal scholar):
More consequences for life and action follow from the affirmation or denial of God than from any other basic question.
Know that and deal with it.
